It's been awhile since I've had a chance to post, so this blog post is jam packed with delicious foodie finds and updates! It's a long post, but I promise it's worth reading!
Hawaii
A few weeks ago, I spent the week exploring the beautiful Hawaiian island of Kauai! Kauai is my favorite of the Hawaiian islands because its small, less touristy, and extremely lush and gorgeous.

While I was there I enjoyed the fresh fruits and juices, local plate lunches, and Hawaiian shave ice (which came in handy during the extremely hot days).

Of course I had to try some fresh fish, including tuna poke, sushi, and fish tacos.

Lappert's Hawaii
I also saved room for my FAVORITE ice cream in Hawaii,
Lappert's! Their macadamia nut ice cream is to die for!

On our last night in Hawaii, we enjoyed a traditional luau complete with roasted pig. It was a great experience!

Birthday Celebrations
This year's birthday celebration was as delicious as ever! From tuna tartare and lobster rolls at
Fish Bar, seafood salads and pie at
Joe's, and glasses of sparkling rose at Cindy's atop the
Chicago Athletic Association, to Mexican comfort food at
Estrella Negra and a delicious birthday cake from
Sweet Mandy B's, I had a wonderful birthday celebration. And, did I mention, I went to
Schwa for the official big birthday bash dinner (more on that meal in a later post)?!

Shaw's Crab House
Beer and seafood lovers should get excited because
Shaw's Crab House recently released its SOB Ale (SOB stands for Shaw's Oyster Bar...get your mind out of the gutter!). The beer was developed in collaboration with San Francisco's
Anchor Brewing. I visited Anchor Brewing when I was in
San Fran in April, and it's a pretty amazing place!
Shaw's SOB ale is perfect with a variety of seafood plates including oysters, boiled shrimp, tuna tartare, and stuffed clams. I know because I tried them all together! Check out the SOB Ale at the Shaw's Chicago oyster bar!
Side note: I'll be at
Shaw's 26th annual Oyster Fest this Friday slurping away...come join me!

Food Adventures with Buick
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of testing out the
2015 Buick Regal. For one week I was cruising around the streets of Chicago in comfort and safety. I don't have a car in the city so it was awesome getting to explore parts of the city I don't typically visit. Have you seen those Buick commercials where people don't recognize that the car is a Buick ("That's not a Buick!")? Well, it's true, this isn't your grandpa's Buick. The car was sleek, modern and fully equipped with safety features, GPS, OnStar, Pandora and XM radio, in-car Wi-Fi, and a rear-view camera, to name a few features. I don't drive very often so it was nice having those extra safety features, especially when trying to parallel park.
