River North's
Tippling Hall has quite possibly one of the largest drink menus in Chicago. It's a great spot for a post-work cocktail and dinner, or Sunday brunch. Fortunately for you, I taste tested both!
Dinner
I stopped by for a weekday dinner with two girlfriends and we spent a little while studying the drink menu. It's not a bad idea to read up on Tippling Hall's expansive drink menu including cocktails, wine, and beer. There are even cocktails on draft, frozen cocktails, coffee cocktails, as well as wine sold by the inch. Read that again.

I went with the Deep Dish Manhattan with Koval whiskey, vermouth, averna and yes, malort. I enjoyed it, especially because it arrived with a flatbread on top. I can't remember what my friends had ...ladies?

We decided the best course of action was to split everything. We started with a trio of appetizers, the duck confit empandas, pickled deviled eggs, and bacon wrapped dates. The clear favorite? Those pickled deviled eggs with house smoked salmon and crispy shallot.

For our main course we picked two completely different items, the roasted chicken tagine and the fried chicken. If you couldn't tell from our selection of appetizers, Tippling Hall's food menu is as diverse as its drink menu. The tagine featured Moroccan carrot couscous, zucchini, chickpeas, and almonds. We loved the unique, strong flavors.

The fried chicken was served with a traditional side of cornbread and a not-so-traditional orange honey. A side of housemade hot sauce added a nice kick.

Since we ordered a bunch of heavy items, we were in need of some veggies and ordered the baked ratatouille. OK, it was topped with goat cheese and toasted hazelnuts, but I promise there were vegetables in there.

Our dinner ended with Tippling Hall's famous Adult Chocolate Chip Cookie. This baby is the real deal. Chocolate chip skillet cookie, vanilla-rum ice cream, and bacon brittle. Just do it.

Brunch
I headed back to Tippling Hall for a media brunch where I had the chance to sample a variety of items. Our Sunday brunch was set to the tunes of a live DJ that helped kick things off on a fun note (the unlimited mimosas didn't hurt either).

The gorgeous seasonal fruit plate and cottage cheese with candied pineapple that arrived at our table were definitely the healthiest dishes of the morning.

Next, we tried my favorite...apple cider donuts topped with cinnamon sugar. I'm glad I don't live closer to Tippling Hall, otherwise I'd be stopping by every weekend for an order of these. I know my donuts and these were on point.

Along with the donuts we tried some assorted pastries including scones, toasted sticky buns, and ridiculously delicate blueberry muffins.

Tippling Hall's cinnamon French toast was quite good, especially with the generous serving of butter and blueberries.

Next, we tried the savory options including this mini version of the crab eggs benedict with Old Bay hollaindaise. I'm not usually into benedicts but I loved the chunks of fresh crab!

The ham and eggs dish was HUGE (perfect for sharing). I didn't try this, but the reviews were positive.

We also tried Tippling Hall's take on chilaquiles. Their version is fairly traditional with smaller corn tortillas, tomato salsa, and poached eggs.

Last but not least, we ended our brunch the same way I ended my dinner at Tippling Hall, with that insane Adult Chocolate Chip Cookie. I had to make sure it still tasted good (it did)!

Overall, you can't go wrong with a meal at Tippling Hall. There is a tremendous amount of options for both meals, and on the drink menu. Just be sure to do your research beforehand!
Note: my brunch at Tippling Hall was complimentary; however, the opinions expressed herein are my own.
