When I found out the former restaurant inside Chicago's Hard Rock Hotel on Michigan Avenue, Chuck's Manufacturing, was reconcepting, I wanted to find out more. I got the invite to check out the new restaurant,
Chuck's: A Kerry Simon Kitchen, which opened on November 19. The name behind the new concept is Evanston native, Kerry Simon. Simon, who has several restaurants in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New Jersey, partnered with Becker Entertainment and the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago to create a menu of contemporary comfort food.

For the opening event, my friend Sam and I got to check out the completely revamped space. The restaurant's dark theme complemented the hotel's rocker vibe and included a ton of black and gold accents. The coolest part of the space, which has remained intact as the restaurant space has evolved, are the floor-to-ceiling windows granting a clear view of Michigan Avenue passers-by.

Throughout the night we sampled comfort food bites including sliders, mac & cheese bites, flatbreads and crab cakes. Everything seemed to have that extra touch to make it go beyond the norm.

The dessert we enjoyed was the "Junk Food Platter" which included a Hostess-like cupcake, caramel corn, cookies, brownies, rice krispie treats and cotton candy. Talk about a sugar splurge! The next time you're in need of a comfort food or sugary fix, stop by Chuck's and check out some more photos from the event below, courtesy of Chuck's!
