When my friend Meredith told me about a recipe she found for Oreo-stuffed chocolate chip cookies, at first I had to give myself a moment to comprehend what she said, and then I realized that I had to make them! It literally took me a few seconds of her explaining what it was before it clicked that this is the definitive American cookie! One lazy Sunday a couple weeks later landed the bf and I at the store picking up the ingredients for these globs of gooey goodness.
This is probably the most indulgent cookie you'll ever try, but trust me, they are well worth the extra time at the gym! Enjoy!

It's perfectly acceptable to eat the remaining Oreos while you wait... |

Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies
Makes 2 dozen large cookies
2 sticks softened butter
3/4 Cup packed light brown sugar
1 Cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 Tablespoon pure vanilla
3 1/2 Cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
10 oz bag chocolate chips
1 bag Oreo Cookies, I used the regular kind (watching my figure)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a stand or electric mixer cream butter and sugars until well combined. Add in eggs and vanilla until well combined.
2. In a separate bowl mix the flour, salt and baking soda. Slowly add to wet ingredients along with chocolate chips until just combined. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, take one scoop of cookie dough and place on top of an Oreo Cookie. Take another scoop of dough and place on bottom of Oreo Cookie. Seal edges together by pressing and cupping in hand until Oreo Cookie is enclosed with dough. Place onto a baking sheet and bake cookies 9-13 minutes or until cookies are baked to your liking. I baked mine for 12 minutes, or until slightly brown on top. Let cool for 5 minutes (if you can wait!) and enjoy!
Thanks for posting step by step pictures!!! That is so helpful. I am making these tomorrow (having 10 people over) can't wait!!! Thanks!
