Las Vegas Edition: Serendipity on the Strip
February 23, 2011
On our recent trip to Las Vegas, the BF and I decided to stop by the second outpost of the famous Serendipity 3 café in NYC. This restaurant, located in the courtyard of Caesars Palace, was a newer addition to the strip, so I was excited to try it.
Serendipity boasts a large menu of burgers, sandwiches, pastas and sweet treats, so the options were endless. We were in the mood for something sweet but the thought of eating a giant $14 sundae was daunting. However, when in Rome…
After much debate, we went with the cookie jar sundae complete with heaping scoops of cookie dough ice cream, three different types of warm cookies (macadamia nut, sugar, and chocolate chip), hot fudge and whipped cream. It was a gorgeous sunny day so we decided to take our order to go and enjoy it outside under the tented eating area.
In its to-go plastic cup, the sundae seemed to be an easy feat. However, this sundae was one that neither the BF or I could finish together. We kept taking bite after bite after bite until we thought we’d reached bottom, only to find another three cookies and two scoops of ice cream underneath. This was ice cream nirvana. We finally gave up, defeated by a gigantic ice cream mammoth. This was well worth the $14 price tag.
Next time, we will definitely bring more friends along, to share in the dessert delight. If you haven’t been to this NYC staple, or even if you have, drop by for a sundae or one of their famous frozen hot chocolates and I guarantee you won’t be hungry for at least 24 hours after. Serendipity 3 gets 4 stars for their generous portions, great location on the strip for people watching, and massive menu options.
