A Cupcake Buffet
September 8, 2010
Birthdays. A time for celebration, friends, presents...and a cupcake buffet. This year I was hit by a cupcake ambush-one that I didn't know hit me until I felt stomach pains from eating way too much sugar.
My good friend Sara (who clearly knows my passion for baked goods) surprised me with a box of freshly baked Molly's Cupcakes. As a self-described cupcake connoisseur, I had always been on the lookout for the best mini-cakes in Chicago. Molly's is still my local fave.
Upon opening the cardboard box, I discovered a half dozen of Molly's large filled cupcakes. Next thing I knew, I was thrown into a cupcake frenzy, dividing and conquering each of the six cupcakes with Sara and the BF.
One by one we devoured and tasted the most popular- The Ron Bennington (chocolate and peanut butter with butterscotch topping), Tiramisu, Cookee Monster, Apple Pie (the winner in my eyes), Chocolate Mousse (BF's fave) and Peanut Butter Nutella.
I never thought I'd get the chance try to so many of their wonderful flavors at once! It was a cupcake race to the finish and we had the creme de la creme. If I liked Molly's before, now we were besties.
The three of us sat slouched in our chairs, defeated by mounds of frosting and cupcake liners (the aftermath below) Best. Birthday. Ever. 5 stars!!!
